AVIACIÓN ESPAÑOLA SUBWAY STATION

Madrid has one of the best  transport means in the world, with the second largest subway network in Europe 2.4 million of passengers per day. Alcantara Stone™ has contributed in this great project of the Madrid Community, bringing its unique natural stone products such as the Alcantara Black® used on stairs, edge platforms, skirtings and floors.

Project location

Alcantara Stone™ has participated at this station construction  supplying  its exclusive and unique materials for the same. Interposed between “Colonia Jardín” and “Cuatro Vientos” station, provided by Alcantara Stone at the time, the “Aviación Española” station is located at the Europe Park Colony and the Aviación Avenue, increasing immediately the mobility to 78,000 neighbors of the America District and the improving for 30,000 future residents of the "Operacion Campamento".

 

In the course of several months has made a considerable effort by all the entities involved in this project to perform this stations, following new charges of usability, design and unification marked by Metro de Madrid and Mintra.

 

The current line 10, is the result of great efforts, which began in 1995 to create a large axis which linking Madrid north to south-west from the originating stations at the old suburban which born in Plaza de España. Since then, until 2003 reached 22.6 km. Long and 19 new stations, which cost €671 millions. For this new station the Madrid Community invest €29.7 millions and the 50% of the operating costs was provided by Madrid Town Hall.

  +    656.00 Ft. of platform edge in pieces of 80x40x6 cm. with double slip band made in AK.

  + 1,241.75 Ft. of staircase of 6 cm. thick with slip band made in AK.

  + 1,291.20 Sqft. paved floor of 60x40x3 cm made in AK.

  +        1 Ud. de entrances in AK and AI flamed finish

    The construction company selected to make this station a success, has been BEGAR Contratas y Construcciones.

     

    Alcantara Stone™ has supplied natural stone used in coatings of this station. From hydrants and access stairs, edge platforms, surface transport, etc., all of them have been coated using these noble materials, capable to extracting all the beauty hidden in these large projects.

    These materials and their station will be enjoyed by the 800,000 visitors who annually use this line as a means of transportation.

    Following the CAD designs (see draws below), our expert handcraft men did this work to manufacture an awesome footprints for this ladders, did the special massive stones for the entrance, also did the ones for edge platforms, etc...
